AFFIRMATION OF FAITH*
The Apostles’ Creed #691
I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
    creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the Holy Spirit
and born of the Virgin Mary.
    He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
    He descended to the dead.
On the third day He rose again.
    He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
    the holy catholic Church,
    the communion of saints,
    the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
Amen.

Faith and Deeds
14 Dear brothers and sisters, What’s the use of saying you have faith if you don’t prove it by your actions? That kind of faith can’t save anyone. 15 Suppose you see a brother or sister who needs food or clothing, 16 and you say, “Well good-bye and God bless you; Stay warm and eat well” – but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do? 17 So you see, it isn’t enough just to have faith. Faith that doesn’t show itself by good deeds is no faith at all—it is dead and useless. 18 Now someone may argue, “Some people have faith; others have good deeds.” I say, “I can’t see your faith if you don’t have good deeds, but I will show you my faith through my good deeds.” 19 Do you still think it’s enough just to believe that there is one God? Well even the demons believe this and they tremble in terror. 20 Fool! When will you ever learn that faith that does not result in good deeds is useless? 21 Don’t you remember that our ancestor Abraham was declared right with God because of what he did when he offered his son Issac on the alter? 22 You see he was trusting God so much that he was willing to do whatever God told him to do. His faith was made complete by what he did—by his actions. 23 And so it happened just as the scriptures say: Abraham believed God, so God declared him to be righteous. He was even called “the friend of God.” 24 So you see, we are made right with God by what we do, not by faith alone.

Leader: This is the Word of God for the people of God.
People: Thanks be to God.

HYMN*
“Fill My Cup, Lord”

Verse 1
Like the woman at the well I was seeking
For things that could not satisfy
And then I heard my Savior speaking
Draw from my well that never shall run dry

Chorus
Fill my cup Lord I lift it up Lord
Come and quench this thirsting of my soul
Bread of heaven feed me till I want no more
Fill my cup fill it up and make me whole

Verse 2
There are millions in this world who are craving
The pleasures earthly things afford
But none can match the wondrous treasure
That I find in Jesus Christ my Lord
Chorus

Verse 3
So my brother if the things this world gave you
Leave hungers that won't pass away
My blessed Lord will come and save you
If you kneel to Him and humbly pray
Chorus

Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Ministry
It’s that time of year again! We are excited to announce our participation in Operation Christmas Child through Samaritan’s Purse. This wonderful initiative allows us to share God’s love with children in need around the world by filling shoeboxes with gifts that bring joy and hope. We will begin collecting items for shoeboxes on November 1. Come join us on Saturday, November 16 to pack the shoeboxes! Stay tuned for the time and further details about this gathering. Here are some suggested items to donate: Toothbrushes, Socks, Combs and hairbrushes, Pens, pencils, and sharpeners, Crayons and markers, Notebooks, Flip-flops, Flashlights, etc. Please Avoid donating: Candy, Toothpaste, Gum, Seeds, Foods, Liquids, Lotions, as these types of gifts create issues with customs. Join us in making a difference this Christmas season! For more information or to get involved, please contact the church office.
