OPENING HYMN*
“Patriotic Medley” Arr. Amy Potter
Off we go into the wild blue yonder
Climbing high into the sun!
Here they come zooming to meet our thunder
At ‘em boys, giver the gun!
Down we dive, spouting our flame from under
Off with one terrible roar!
We live in fame or go down in flame
Hey! Nothing’ll stop the U.S. Air Force!
Over hill, over dale, we will hit the dusty trail
and the caissons go rolling along.
In and out, hear them shout, counter march and right about
and the caissons go rolling along.
Then it’s hi hi hee for the field artillery.
Shout out your number loud and strong.
For where e’er you go, you will always know
that the caissons go rolling along.
Anchors a-weigh, my boys, anchors a-weigh.
Farewell to college joys we sail at break of day-ay-ay-ay
Through our last night on shore, hail to the foam.
Until we meet once more
here’s wishing you a happy voyage home.
From the halls of Montezuma to the shores of Tripoli
we will fight our country’s battles
in the air, on land and sea.
First to fight for right and freedom
and to keep our honor clean.
We are proud to wear the title of United States Marine!
AFFIRMATION OF FAITH* The Apostles’ Creed #691 I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day He rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Warning Against the Teachers of the Law
38 As he taught, Jesus said, “Watch out for the teachers of the law. They like to walk around in flowing robes and be greeted with respect in the marketplaces, 39 and have the most important seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at banquets. 40 They devour widows’ houses and for a show make lengthy prayers. These men will be punished most severely.”
The Widow’s Offering
41 Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. 42 But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents. 43 Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. 44 They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”
