The parable teaches that grace is not earned—it’s given. For the younger son, that meant restoration in spite of failure. For the older son, the invitation was to join the celebration, to rejoice in mercy given. In everyday life, this means showing compassion to those who’ve strayed and letting go of the need to compare or compete in faith. This week, consider offering forgiveness where it’s overdue. Celebrate someone’s spiritual progress, even if it’s imperfect. And if you find yourself distant from God, remember: there is always a road home, and it begins with humility.
