Nourishing the Soul: A Reflection on Spiritual Food

Yesterday, Pastor Thomas Long led us in exploring a profound truth: “We are what we eat,” both in the physical and spiritual sense. Drawing from John 6:51-58, Pastor Long highlighted the critical difference between the temporary satisfaction of physical food and the eternal nourishment offered by Jesus, the Bread of Life. Jesus said, “I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever.” This declaration invites us to move beyond surface-level spirituality and partake in the deep, sustaining nourishment that Christ offers. As you reflect on this message, consider how you can actively partake in this Bread of Life throughout your week. Let this be a week where you intentionally seek the nourishment that comes from engaging deeply with God’s Word, prayer, and the sacraments.
