Prelude
“Holy God, We Praise Thy Name”

Arr. James Michael Stevens

Responsive Call to Worship*
Psalm 96: 1-6

Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth.

Sing to the Lord, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day.

Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples.

For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all gods.

For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the Lord made the heavens.

Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and glory are in his sanctuary.

Choral Response*
“Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty”
№ 23

Hymn*
“To God Be the Glory”
№ 531

Affirmation of Faith*
The Apostles’ Creed
№ 691

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
   creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the Holy Spirit
and born of the Virgin Mary.
   He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
   He descended to the dead.
On the third day He rose again.
   He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
   the holy catholic Church,
   the communion of saints,
   the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
Amen.

Scripture*
Pat Smith
Deuteronomy 8:2, 11-20

2 Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands.

11 Be careful that you do not forget the Lord your God, failing to observe his commands, his laws and his decrees that I am giving you this day. 12 Otherwise, when you eat and are satisfied, when you build fine houses and settle down, 13 and when your herds and flocks grow large and your silver and gold increase and all you have is multiplied, 14 then your heart will become proud and you will forget the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. 15 He led you through the vast and dreadful wilderness, that thirsty and waterless land, with its venomous snakes and scorpions. He brought you water out of hard rock. 16 He gave you manna to eat in the wilderness, something your ancestors had never known, to humble and test you so that in the end it might go well with you. 17 You may say to yourself, “My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.” 18 But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today.

19 If you ever forget the Lord your God and follow other gods and worship and bow down to them, I testify against you today that you will surely be destroyed. 20 Like the nations the Lord destroyed before you, so you will be destroyed for not obeying the Lord your God.

Leader: This is the Word of God for the people of God.
People: Thanks be to God.

Operation Christmas Child
Douglas County Toy Distribution
LSMC is honored to host the OCC DC Toy Distribution on Saturday, December 6, from 8:30 to 11:00 AM. We need volunteers to help hand out toys that have already been selected and labeled for each family. We also need a team of volunteers to pick up the toys from the OCC warehouse earlier that week, tentatively Wednesday, December 3 (final date and time to be confirmed), and then help separate and label toys by age and family. If you are available to help with either part of this project, please contact the church office.

Douglas County Senior Services
Kinship Program
On Tuesday, December 16, from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall, Douglas County Senior Services will host a special evening for grandparents age 55 and older who are raising children. Enjoy a meal, an informative presentation, and a fun activity designed to support and encourage families in this important role. Childcare will be provided. Please call the church office to reserve your spot!

After-School Tutoring at LSMC
We are excited to share that Lithia Springs Methodist Church has partnered with the C.E. Mitchell Services Foundation to provide after-school tutoring right here in our Children’s Building! Tutoring is available on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 5:00–8:00 PM, offering students extra support in Math and Language Arts. We are grateful for this new opportunity to serve families in our community and help students reach their full potential! Please call the church office for more information.

Journey through the story of Christ’s birth from the comfort of your car as living scenes bring the miracle of that holy night to life. This special ministry is free and open to all. We also invite you to be part of the story! Volunteers are needed to serve as actors, greeters, traffic guides, and dressing assistants. Help is also needed for scene setup and breakdown.
