Pentecost Prayer (Responsive)
Come, Holy Spirit! Ignite our hearts with joy and confidence!
For God has done wondrous things for us.
Come, Holy Spirit! Fill us with the power of the rushing wind that we may faithfully serve you in all that we do.
For Christ has called each of us and blessed us!
Come, Holy Spirit! Be with us today.
Help us to boldly proclaim Christ Risen. Amen.

The Apostles’ Creed
№ 691
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day He rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Acts 2:1-4, 29-41
When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.
“Fellow Israelites, I can tell you confidently that the patriarch David died and was buried, and his tomb is here to this day. But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that he would place one of his descendants on his throne. Seeing what was to come, he spoke of the resurrection of the Messiah, that he was not abandoned to the realm of the dead, nor did his body see decay. God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of it. Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear. For David did not ascend to heaven, and yet he said,
“‘The Lord said to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.”‘
“Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.”
When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”
Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”
With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.” Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.
Leader: This is the Word of God for the people of God.
People: Thanks be to God.

Mobile Food Pantry Ministry
In partnership with the Atlanta Community Food Bank, Borden Dairy, and the Good Samaritan Center of Douglasville, our Mobile Food Pantry provides fresh food to our community through a convenient drive-through distribution beginning at 2:00 PM every other month on the third Saturday (June 20, August 15, October 17, and December 19). Volunteers are an essential part of this ministry and are asked to arrive at 12:00 PM to help prepare and serve. If you would like to be part of this meaningful outreach, please contact the church office—or if you need food or know of someone who does, plan to drive through and spread the word!
Vacation Bible School Volunteers Needed
Vacation Bible School is coming up July 6–10 from 6:00–8:30 PM, and we would love for you to be part of this exciting week! We are looking for volunteers to serve in a variety of areas, including meal preparation and serving (supper is provided each night), registration and dismissal, music, recreation, Bible study, and crafts. There is truly a place for everyone to serve. VBS is a wonderful opportunity to share God’s love, build relationships, and help grow our youngest members, as well as children in our community, in their walk with Jesus. Registration forms for children and volunteer sign-ups are available on the credenza behind the sanctuary, in the children’s wing, and in the church office. Please consider joining us for this meaningful ministry. Your time and presence can make a lasting impact! Contact the church office or Jess Arther at 678.761.0744 to get involved.
Community Night @ LSMC – Thursday, May 28
Join us for Community Night at Lithia Springs Methodist Church on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays from 6:00–8:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall! This is a relaxed, welcoming time for all ages to come together. Everyone is invited! We’ll share supper, enjoy games, get creative with crafts, and spend time building community. Whether you come every time or just drop in when you can, we’d love to have you with us! This week’s supper will be sliders, baked beans, cole slaw, and chips. For dessert we will make ice cream sundaes with all the toppings!
