Responsive Call to Worship*
Psalm 139:1-2, 23-24

You have searched me, Lord, and you know me.

You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.

Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.

See if there is any offensive way in me and lead me in the way everlasting.

Hymn*
“Since Jesus Came into My Heart”
№ 552

Affirmation of Faith*
The Apostles’ Creed
№ 691

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
   creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the Holy Spirit
and born of the Virgin Mary.
   He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
   He descended to the dead.
On the third day He rose again.
   He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
   the holy catholic Church,
   the communion of saints,
   the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
Amen.

Scripture*
Georgia Deakin
Matthew 13:24-30, 36-43 NIV

Jesus told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared.

“The owner’s servants came to him and said, ‘Sir, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?’

“‘An enemy did this,’ he replied.

“The servants asked him, ‘Do you want us to go and pull them up?’

“‘No,’ he answered, ‘because while you are pulling the weeds, you may uproot the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.’”

Then he left the crowd and went into the house. His disciples came to him and said, “Explain to us the parable of the weeds in the field.”

He answered, “The one who sowed the good seed is the Son of Man. The field is the world, and the good seed stands for the people of the kingdom. The weeds are the people of the evil one, and the enemy who sows them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels.

“As the weeds are pulled up and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the age. The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. They will throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Whoever has ears, let them hear.”

Leader: This is the Word of God for the people of God.
People: Thanks be to God.

Ghana Clothing Drive
The Crusaders Sunday School Class is holding a clothing drive for the people of Ghana. Michael Offei, a member of this class, is involved with a ministry in this country, and they have asked for help. This ministry needs items of clothing for children, women, and men as they help those in need. (Please note: Ghana is in West Africa, where the weather is hot.) Please bring your lightly used clothing to the church. It will be boxed up and shipped to Ghana in a few weeks. Thank you for your help as we share with the people in Ghana.

Mobile Food Pantry Ministry

This outreach takes place every other month on the third Saturday (June 20, August 15, October 17, and December 19). Volunteers are an essential part of this ministry and are asked to arrive at 12:00 PM to help prepare and serve. If you would like to be part of this meaningful outreach, please contact the church office—or if you need food or know of someone who does, plan to drive through and spread the word.
