Called by God, Even When You’re Young
Have you ever felt too young to do something important? Maybe you’ve been told, “Wait until you’re older.” But in today’s lesson, we learn about a young man named Jeremiah, whom God called to be a prophet while he was still a child! Even though he felt unqualified, God had a great purpose for his life—just as He does for each of us.
Jeremiah’s Call
One day, God spoke to Jeremiah and said:
“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. Before you were born, I set you apart and appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” (Jeremiah 1:5)
Jeremiah was shocked. He said, “I don’t know how to speak! I’m too young!” But God answered:
“Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go wherever I send you and say whatever I command you. Do not be afraid, for I am with you.” (Jeremiah 1:7-8)
Then, God touched Jeremiah’s mouth and put His words inside him. God had chosen Jeremiah to share His message, and He promised to always be with him.
God’s Plan for You
Just like Jeremiah, we may feel too small or unqualified to do big things for God. But the truth is, God has a purpose for each of us—even when we’re young!
Jesus tells us:
“You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last.” (John 15:16)
Like a tree needs water, sunlight, and deep roots to grow strong, we need Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and God’s Word to grow in faith.
How Can We Be Like Jeremiah?
Even as kids, we can follow Jeremiah’s example by:
✔ Reading God’s Word – This helps us know what is true.
✔ Praying daily – Talking to God helps us trust Him more.
✔ Listening for His voice – God often speaks through the Bible and in our hearts.
✔ Sharing His love – Our kindness can help others see Jesus in us.
Final Encouragement: God Says, “I Choose You!”
Jeremiah’s story reminds us that God calls, equips, and strengthens us—no matter how young we are! If we trust Him, He will guide our steps.
So, next time you feel like you’re too small to make a difference, remember what God told Jeremiah: “I choose you!”
Prayer:
“Lord, thank You for calling each of us to serve You. Help us trust You, even when we feel too small. Give us courage to follow You just like Jeremiah did. Amen.”
