Responsive Call to Worship*
Psalm 67

May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine on us so that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations.

May the peoples praise you, God; may all the peoples praise you.

May the nations be glad and sing for joy, for you rule the peoples with equity and guide the nations of the earth.

May the peoples praise you, God; may all the peoples praise you.

The land yields its harvest; God, our God, blesses us.

May God bless us still, so that all the ends of the earth will fear him.

Choral Response*
“Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty” № 23

Hymn*
“God of Our Fathers” № 59

Affirmation of Faith*
The Apostles’ Creed № 691

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the Holy Spirit
and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended to the dead.
On the third day He rose again.
He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
Amen.

Scripture*
John 5:1-9
Jimmy Derrick

5 Some time later, Jesus went up to Jerusalem for one of the Jewish festivals. 2 Now there is in Jerusalem near the Sheep Gate a pool, which in Aramaic is called Bethesda and which is surrounded by five covered colonnades. 3 Here a great number of disabled people used to lie—the blind, the lame, the paralyzed. 5 One who was there had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. 6 When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to get well?”

7 “Sir,” the invalid replied, “I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me.”

8 Then Jesus said to him, “Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.” 9 At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked.

The day on which this took place was a Sabbath.

Leader: This is the Word of God for the people of God.
People: Thanks be to God.

Chapel Open for Prayer
The chapel will be open each Sunday beginning at 9:00 AM for a time of quiet prayer and reflection. All are welcome to come and prepare their hearts before worship.

Children’s Church Available!
We’re excited to offer Children’s Church for our little ones! Children through first grade are invited to join us during worship for a special time of learning, fun, and faith made just for them.

As we prepare our hearts for Pentecost, we invite you to take a “ribbon” and write down your prayers, whether they are prayers for yourself, for others, or for the world. These “ribbons” will be a visible expression of our hopes, needs, and trust in the Holy Spirit. Please add to these prayers each week as we will be creating a prayer wall over the next weeks prior to Pentecost. Write on the ribbon and place in the collection plate. We will display and grow our wall as a symbol of our shared prayer and expectation for the Spirit’s presence and power among and within each of us.
“They all joined together constantly in prayer…”Acts1:14
