This morning in Children’s Sunday School, we learned to Be Bold for God’s Purpose.
Esther’s story is one of incredible courage and faith. Though she was just an ordinary girl, God placed her in an extraordinary position—queen of Persia! But with this great honor came a great challenge. Esther had to risk everything to save her people, and through her boldness, God brought about a miraculous victory.
The Story of Queen Esther
Esther was a young Jewish girl living in Persia with her uncle, Mordecai. When King Xerxes searched for a new queen, Esther was chosen for her beauty—but God had an even greater plan for her.
At that time, a powerful man named Haman convinced the king to issue a decree that would destroy all the Jews. Mordecai urged Esther to speak up for her people, but approaching the king without being summoned could lead to death.
Yet, Mordecai told her something powerful:
“Who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:14)
Taking a bold step of faith, Esther asked all the Jews to fast and pray. Then, she courageously approached the king, and instead of punishment, he welcomed her. Through Esther’s wisdom and God’s guidance, she exposed Haman’s evil plan. As a result, the king protected the Jews, and Haman faced judgment instead.
Lesson for Us: Be Bold Like Esther
Like Esther, we may find ourselves in situations where doing the right thing is difficult. But just as God gave Esther strength, He will give us boldness when we stand up for truth.
Key Takeaways for Children:
- God has a purpose for you! He places you in the right place at the right time.
- Courage comes from God. Even when we’re afraid, we can trust that He is with us.
- Your choices matter. When you choose to do what’s right, God can use you to bless others.
Memory Verse:
“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
— Philippians 1:6
Just as God worked through Esther, He is working through you too!
