Responsive Call to Worship*
Psalm 27:1,4-9

The Lord is my light, and he saves me. Why should I fear anyone?

The Lord is my place of safety. Why should I be afraid?

I’m asking the Lord for only one thing. Here is what I want. I want to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life. I want to look at the beauty of the Lord. I want to worship him in his temple.

When I’m in trouble, he will keep me safe in his house. He will hide me in the safety of his holy tent. He will put me on a rock that is very high.

Then I will win the battle over my enemies who are all around me. At his holy tent I will offer my sacrifice with shouts of joy. I will sing and make music to the Lord.

Lord, hear my voice when I call out to you. Treat me with kindness and answer me.

My heart says, “Seek him!” Lord, I will seek you.

Don’t turn your face away from me. Don’t turn me away because you are angry. You have helped me. God my Savior, don’t say no to me. Don’t desert me.

Choral Response*
“O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing”

O for a thousand tongues to sing,
my great Redeemer’s praise,
The glories of my God and King,
the triumphs of His grace!

Words by Charles Wesley, music by Carl G. Glaser
CCLI 1152573

Hymn*
“We’ve a Story to Tell to the Nations”
№ 458

Affirmation of Faith*
The Apostles’ Creed
№ 691

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
   creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the Holy Spirit
and born of the Virgin Mary.
   He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
   He descended to the dead.
On the third day He rose again.
   He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
   the holy catholic Church,
   the communion of saints,
   the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
Amen.

Matthew 4:12-23

John had been put in prison. When Jesus heard about this, he returned to Galilee. Jesus left Nazareth and went to live in the city of Capernaum. It was by the lake in the area of Zebulun and Naphtali. In that way, what the prophet Isaiah had said came true. He had said,

“Land of Zebulun! Land of Naphtali!
Galilee, where Gentiles live!
Land along the Mediterranean Sea!
Territory east of the Jordan River!
The people who are now living in darkness
have seen a great light.
They are now living in a very dark land.
But a light has shined on them.”

From that time on Jesus began to preach. “Turn away from your sins!” he said. “The kingdom of heaven has come near.”

One day Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee. There he saw two brothers, Simon Peter and his brother Andrew. They were throwing a net into the lake, because they were fishermen. “Come and follow me,” Jesus said. “I will send you out to fish for people.” At once they left their nets and followed him.

Going on from there, he saw two other brothers. They were James, son of Zebedee, and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee. As they were preparing their nets, Jesus called out to them. Right away they left the boat and their father and followed Jesus.

Jesus went all over Galilee. There he taught in the synagogues. He preached the good news of God’s kingdom. He healed every illness and sickness the people had.
