Responsive Call to Worship*
Beverly Kitchens
Psalm 119:17-24

Be good to your servant while I live, that I may obey your word.

Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law.

I am a stranger on earth; do not hide your commands from me.

My soul is consumed with longing for your laws at all times.

You rebuke the arrogant, who are accursed, those who stray from your commands.

Remove from me their scorn and contempt, for I keep your statutes.

Though rulers sit together and slander me, your servant will meditate on your decrees.

Your statutes are my delight; they are my counselors.

Choral Response*
“O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing”
№ 1

O for a thousand tongues to sing,
my great Redeemer’s praise,
The glories of my God and King,
the triumphs of His grace!

Words by Charles Wesley, music by Carl G. Glaser

Hymn*
“I Know Not Why God’s Wondrous Grace”

Affirmation of Faith*
Cole Black
The Apostles’ Creed
№ 691

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
   creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the Holy Spirit
and born of the Virgin Mary.
   He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
   He descended to the dead.
On the third day He rose again.
   He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
   the holy catholic Church,
   the communion of saints,
   the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
Amen.

Scripture*
Pat Smith
1 Corinthians 15:50-58

I declare to you, brothers and sisters, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed—in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.

For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”

“Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?”

The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

Leader: This is the Word of God for the people of God.
People: Thanks be to God.

Methodist Men’s Breakfast & Devotion
The Methodist Men of Mount Nebo Methodist Church invite all men to a District 5 breakfast and devotion on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Mount Nebo Methodist Church, 3685 Nebo Road, Dallas, GA 30157. Breakfast will include bacon and eggs, sausage, gravy and biscuits, fruit, pastries, dessert, along with coffee and juice. Mobile Food Pantry Ministry
Our Mobile Food Pantry, in partnership with the Atlanta Community Food Bank and the Good Samaritan Center of Douglasville, provides fresh food through a drive-through distribution at 2:00 PM. Volunteers are needed at 11:00 AM. Held every other month on the third Saturday (June 20, August 15, October 17, December 19). Contact the church office to help.

Children’s Church Volunteers Needed
Our Children’s Ministry is looking for volunteers who would be willing to serve occasionally in Children’s Church. Volunteers will lead the Bible lesson for the day, but all lessons will be provided in advance and all crafts and supplies will be prepared for you. This is a wonderful opportunity to help guide and encourage our children as they grow in their faith. Even serving periodically can make a meaningful difference. If you are interested in helping, please contact the church office or speak with Jess Arther.
