As our journey through the Old Testament comes to a close, we meet one last prophet—Malachi. His name means “messenger,” and he brought an important message from God. Malachi’s words were like the final scene before a big story reveal, pointing God’s people—and us—toward the Savior who was soon to come.
🌟 Key Message: Jesus Is Woven Through It All
This final lesson isn’t just about Malachi—it’s a celebration of everything we’ve learned. The Bible has been showing us Jesus from the very beginning! The Old Testament is full of clues, promises, and pictures of the Messiah who was to come, and Malachi’s voice is the last echo of that promise before the New Testament begins.
✨ Malachi’s Four Big Announcements:
- God Loves – No matter what, God’s love for His people never ends. He keeps His promises.
- God Knows – God sees everything, even when we fall short. But His forgiveness is always ready.
- God Sends – Malachi prophesied that someone would come to prepare the way. That someone was John the Baptist!
- God Comes – The biggest promise of all! Malachi pointed to Jesus—the Messiah—who would come to save and restore.
🔴 The Scarlet Thread
Throughout every book of the Old Testament, we find signs of Jesus—like a red thread woven through a great story. From Genesis to Malachi, each prophet, story, and law points us to Him. Malachi reminds us to look forward, to prepare our hearts, and to trust that God’s greatest gift—Jesus—is the fulfillment of every promise.
📖 Memory Verse
“Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow… and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
– Philippians 2:9–11 (ESV)
