“Come, Ye Thankful People, Come” #83
AFFIRMATION OF FAITH* The Apostles’ Creed #691 I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day He rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

SCRIPTURE* Revelation 1:4b-8
Bob Wallace
Grace and peace to you from him who is, and who was, and who is to come, and from the seven spirits before his throne, 5 and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth.
To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, 6 and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father—to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen.
7 “Look, he is coming with the clouds,”
and “every eye will see him,
even those who pierced him”;
and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.”
So shall it be! Amen.
8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”
Leader: This is the Word of God for the people of God.
People: Thanks be to God.

Hanging of the Greens Dec. 1st
Please join us for a special worship experience, Hanging of the Greens, next Sunday, December 1st. This beloved tradition marks the beginning of Advent, a time of preparation and anticipation for the celebration of Christ’s birth. During the service, we’ll adorn our sanctuary with greenery, candles, and other symbols of the season, each carrying a special meaning that reflects the hope, joy, love, and peace of Christmas. Come and experience the beauty and meaning of the season in this inspiring and reflective service. We look forward to celebrating with you and your family!
Christmas Cantata Dec. 8th
Celebrate the joy of the season with us during worship on Sunday, December 8th, as our Chancel and Handbell Choirs present the Christmas Cantata, “Once Upon a Holy Night.” This special musical offering is a beautiful way to reflect on the miracle of Christ’s birth. Invite your friends and family to share in this festive and meaningful experience.
Operation Christmas Child Douglas County
New, unwrapped Christmas gifts for children of all ages who are in need within Douglas County can be dropped off in the collection boxes located behind the Sanctuary and in the Children’s Wing. Join us on Thursday, December 5th at 11am in the Fellowship Hall to pack bags with toys and candy in preparation for distribution to families on December 7th.
How Far to Bethlehem
Our annual live nativity drive-thru is being held on December 13, 14, 15 from 7pm-9pm. If you would like to volunteer as an actor or in another capacity, please call the church office, as it takes many hands to make this happen. It is a truly moving experience that shares the hope, peace, and fulfillment that Christ’s birth brings with the community and is a powerful reminder of God’s love and the promise of salvation.
A meal is served every evening of HFTB at 5pm before actors must dress at 6pm and take the stage at 7pm, when the community arrives. Donations of apple juice, homemade desserts, cookies, or snack cakes to help make HFTB a special event may be dropped off from Sunday, December 8, through Friday, December 13, in the conference room across from the church office or in the kitchen. Please clearly label your contributions with “HFTB.” Monetary donations are welcomed. Thank you all, once again, for your generosity and support of our programs!
The Brotherhood of Methodist Men is seeking volunteers!
Join them on Friday, December 6th at 3pm to sort out the HFTB parts, by scene, on the basketball court. Next, bring your cordless drills, pickup trucks, and trailers on Saturday, December 7th at 9am to help set up the scenes. Meet up at Tiffany’s on Lee Rd. at 8am Saturday, December 7th for breakfast!
LSMC Christmas Party
Immediately following worship service on December 22nd we will head down to the Fellowship Hall for a fun and festive celebration! Stay tuned for details in the coming weeks.
Donate Used Eyeglasses
The Progressive Class is carrying on the legacy of Barbara Marquez, who dedicated 20 years to sending eyeglasses into the mission field. Your donation of gently used eyeglasses can help bring the gift of clear vision to those in need. A collection box is located in the Progressive classroom. Thank you for continuing this impactful ministry!
