Music and Worship Update: 4/17/15

This Sunday, 4/19, we are going to continue our celebration of Easter with Holy Communion.  We will be singing Marching to Zion and Love Divine, All Loves Excelling.  The Handbell Choir will be playing In Remembrance and Near to the Old Rugged Cross, which is a combination of Near the Cross and The Old Rugged Cross.  We will also hear an arrangement of Shine, Jesus Shine, which will be sung by Dr. Bob Custer, John’s brother in law.

We also have a couple of special opportunities coming up in our Sunday night services.  This week, 4/19, we will have F*L*Y with us.  This is a group of young people from Full Life Gospel Ministries in Villa Rica, who will be coming to lead our service.  They enjoy coming up with live “music videos” of Christian songs and hymns.

The next Sunday night, 4/26, we will have Dr. Tom Elliott with us and he will be leading us thru music.  Tom’s music weaves together a wide range of musical styles ranging from adult contemporary to rock, jazz, folk, country, and praise with the elements of inspirational storytelling and humor.  In 1999, Tom released his first CD entitled “God’s Time” featuring “The Miracle of the Seed” and “Love Grows Here.” His second CD, “Jubilee” (2012) is a collection of original worship music written over 20 years of ministry.  He is a member of the “Wild at Heart” band, a praise and worship group of six clergy friends, including our own Pastor John!  The rumor is that he has talked Pastor John into joining him on several numbers!  Plan to join us for these special Sunday night services!

Also, all choirs are rehearsing again on Wednesday night.  The Chancel Choir is beginning to prepare for anthems throughout the summer.  We rehearse each Wednesday night at 7:45, except for the month of July.  Come join us!

I hope to see you Sunday as we worship together!
